Our
Philosophy
Our philosophy at Herban Living Farm is to work with the earth to
produce local, healthy food. We believe that organic and biological
practices not only grow the most nutritious produce, but actually
replenish the soil rather than deplete it.
Our Practices
Our practices, which include crop rotation, interplanting, grazing and
scheduled cover cropping, serve to create a sustainable farming system
that bears in mind the needs of the whole ecosystem-soil organisms,
people, plants, insects, wildlife, trees and water. All of our farm
animals are on rotating pasutre so they can eat fresh wild food
including grass, brush, insects and seeds. Our animals breath clean
air, receive organic feeds, and get plenty of exercise.

Our Vision
Herban Living Farm is part of a larger vision of people
working
together to support sustainable, local farms, sharing food and
celebrating the bounty of a loving earth. That's the promise of
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
CSAs are local, small farming systems where a farmer produces diverse
crops for farm members who receive fresh food weekly. All members share
in the bounty and risk of the farm, and all enjoy knowing where and how
their food is grown.
Our Commitment
Our Commitment extends beyond the growing and selling of produce. We
are building community through our Community Support Agriculture (CSA)
membership, multiple seasonal public celebrations, and our nascent
environmental education work, which includes visiting school groups and
Dandelions Summer Camp. In continuation of one of our founding
principles, we will be donating food to a local non-profits that
support families at risk.
Our Invitation
We warmly invite you to join our community, whether joining our CSA,
visiting us to look around, volunteering in the fields, or by
organizing an event at the farm.
This years crops will include: spinach, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes,
kale, carrots, cabbages, greens, pumpkins, melons, lettuces, radishes,
leeks, potatoes, beets, broccoli, peppers, peas, beans, winter squash,
summer squash, basil, dill, thyme, parsley, and even more herbs.
Additionally, eggs, lacto-fermented vegetables, roasting and soup
chickens, and honey will be available through our farmstand.
The season begins around June 1 and things will start slow. The season
will run for twenty weeks, ending at Thanksgiving. Members will also
receive bags of roots crops, including carrots, onions, beets, cabbage
and potatotes.
Members can pick up their produce on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
